The Baumwipfelpfad Schwarzwald is a path consisting of platforms and a wood tower where you walk high up among and above the tree tops. It’s situated on the hill above the small town of Bad Wildbad in northern Black Forest.
The path up to the tower has some stations informing about the wildlife in the forest and here and there you can walk on small obstacle paths with a view straight down to the ground.
The 40 meter high tower spirals up above the treetops.
The trees were swaying quite a bit in the wind this day…
…but on a stable tower with proper fences, even people with a touch of vertigo will feel quite safe.
Spiraling paths to walk up and a spiral slide to go down.
The view is great on every level and gives you the chance to enjoy the trees from a level you’re normally unable to reach.
Unfortunately there were no more mats available when we wanted to go down with the slide. They were unable to hoist up more of them due to the strong winds that day – something that could be worth finding a better solution for in a place with constant wind…
Forests as far as the eyes could see.
This place is definitely worth a visit and I’d recommend going there with the Sommerbergbahn which offers great views of the valley going up and down.
